(KMOV.com) – St. Louis City police responded to the scene of a major accident in south St. Louis Thursday evening.

The four vehicle accident took place at the intersection of South Kingshighway and Magnolia.

Around 4 p.m. police say a 61-year-old man struck the rear of one vehicle then continued to drive. He then struck two more cars before hitting a tree.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No other injuries were reported.

Crews closed all lanes of S. Kingshighway as accident reconstruction crews worked on scene.

The victim's identity has not been released at this time.
