COLUMBIA, Ill. (KMOV.com) — Officers with the Major Case Squad were called to investigate after a body was found in Columbia, Illinois.

Columbia Police Chief Joe Edwards said the body was discovered inside a home in the 900 block of Bluffside Road.

Police said 16 MCS investigators were called in to help the Columbia Police Department with the case.

No details have yet been released about the victim.

Police officials said an autopsy was performed to determine a cause of death, but added the case is being investigated as a homicide.

The relatives of the victim were not immediately available to talk.

Chief Edwards said the O’Fallon Police Department is expected to release more information at a later time.
