GELNDALE, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Members of St. Louis County Police and the Major Case Squad are investigating after a mother and her two children were found shot to death inside a Glendale home.
Police responded to the home in the 700 block of Hawbrook Road around 11 a.m. Within minutes, the Major Case Squad was requested at the scene.
According to Glendale police, a mother and her two children were found dead inside the home by the father. Police say the father called and reported one gunshot. He then called back again and told dispatch that his wife was dead and he thought it was a murder-suicide.
The father says he was reading at the time. The mother was found on the kitchen floor, and responders found the father doing CPR on his 11-year-old son when they arrived.
The daughter, 9, was found on a bed upstairs on the second floor.
All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbors in the area were shocked by the scene.
"We have a very nice neighborhood; no problems at all, but then you hear this and it hurts that this close it happened," said Phillip Henderson.
Henderson and his wife Pat live around the corner. Pat says their neighbor talked to the wife just days before the incident and something seemed off.
"She did say she recently talked to the mother and asked well how are things going, she said, 'ugh, well you know,'" said Henderson. "So maybe something's going on there she didn't know."
The father was questioned for over seven hours by police, but officials said this case appears to be a murder-suicide.
An informal prayer session was held at Mary Queen of Peace Church which drew dozens of participants.
