MADISON COUNTY, Il (KMOV.com) – A Fort Russell Township Highway worker was killed Wednesday in a tragic incident on the work site.

The Madison County Coroner has confirmed Dennis D. Goebel, 62, of the 5700 block of Seiler Road in Dorsey was struck and killed by one of the Highway Department’s trucks.  

Reports say Goebel was with a highway department crew performing repairs at Maple Street and Oak Drive in Meadowbrook. Goebel was found by co-workers underneath a dump truck just after 12:45 pm. No witnesses saw the accident occur.

Goebel was pronounced dead at the scene by Madison County Coroner’s Office at 1:30 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled for October 4, to reconstruct the event.
