ALTON, Il. (KMOV)—A 63-year-old man is the fourth victim in Madison County to die from heat-related complications Wednesday morning.
According to reports, Jerry E. Besterfeldt was found by his girlfriend in the 2900 block of Sanford around 7am. There was a window air conditioner in the bedroom but was not being used due to high cost. The girlfriend slept in the living room, in front of a fan.
According to the Madison County Coroner, Besterfeldt’s body temperature was 104 degrees and the room temperature was 93.8 degrees.
