Judge Barbara Crowder was the only judge hearing asbestos cases in Madison County until she was reassigned Monday.
While the action may not be illegal, the judge accepted the contributions from the same law firm that she had made an important and favorable ruling for just five days before.
Crowder will no longer be allowed to hear any cases involving asbestos, which includes pending cases.
