ST. LOUIS (KMOV) — Local law enforcement agencies are holding a press conference Wednesday afternoon to discuss measures they are taking as thousands of motorcycle stunt riders converge on the area this weekend.

Social networking websites are promoting the Streetfighterz Ride of the Century 2013, scheduled for Sunday in St. Louis.

Nearly 3,000 bikers began last year’s ride of the century. During the ride, bikers performed stunts such as standing on top of their bike. Some even brought out their smart phones and started recording others riding down the interstate. Others popped “wheelies” while blocking traffic.

One rider was also run over by a car after crashing on Interstate 55.

Police said 63 people were given citations while 19 were arrested.

It’s that combination of dangerous stunts, hazardous behavior and poor judgment local police chiefs say they will not tolerate this year.
