(KMOV.com) – Employees at the Parkway School District are learning to deal with an intruder who enters school.

In the training session, employees participate in a simulated staff meeting before a life like shooting situation plays out. Teachers are taught to barricade the door, and then lead the students out of the school anyway possible.

“We look at things like Columbine, like Virginia Tech,” said Stephen Spear with Tier One Tactical Solutions. “Where we’re locking our doors, turning off our lights, and just hiding as an only options just wasn’t working.”

All Parkway employees will go through mandatory intruder training before school starts August 7.
