(KMOV) –Graffiti is a problem in every urban area but some in East St. Louis has crossed the line.

For a community trying to clean up its image, someone tagged a building with the words “Bang Rape.”

It’s in full view of the MetroLink line, which brings thousands of people past it every day. Residents are not happy about it. They say it gives people the wrong idea about their home. When they come in on metro and see all the graffiti.

“They actually already have us pegged when they come into our city, you know what I’m saying, having people scared of us.”

News 4’s Sharon Reed asked Mayor Alvin Parks what he’s doing about it. Click the video player to see her full report.
