(KMOV) – St. Charles Church of the Shepherd is taking time to help neighbors rebuild after a tornado struck the Lewis Place Neighborhood in north city on December 31, 2010. Neighbors say the twister created so much damage, homes were condemned.

Victims say they had nowhere to turn for assistance, “this has been so long and drawn out. It’s just wearing us down,” Pamela Talley, a neighbor said.

St. Charles Church of the Shepherd is helping residents get their feet back on the ground and do what they say is Christ’s work, “I believe everybody's our neighbor. Jesus taught that. I believe it. it doesn't matter who you are or where you live. Christ is our neighbor. One of the things he calls us to do is help our neighbors,” Kevin Shepard said.

Neighbors say they hope their lives can return to normal as soon as possible.
