(KMOV) -- Lightning struck the side of a nursing home in Swansea on Sunday.

Officials say that many of the residents heard a loud boom around noon, and after further inspection, it was determined that lightning hit the building, leaving a giant hole and burnt shingles.

The Swansea Fire Department responded, spraying the building, and ripping out some siding to make sure things were safe.

Officials did evacuate residents as a precaution, but they have since been allowed back in.

No injuries were reported.
