(KMOV)-- City leaders approved a smoking ban in Lake St. Louis on Monday.

Lake St. Louis is the first city in St. Charles County to be smoke free.

Four months ago, St. Louis County passed a similar ban on smoking in restaurants, bars and other enclosed areas. Opponents of the ban said it infringes on the independence of business owners.
