(KMOV) – A group of laid-off teachers in Belleville found out on Tuesday that they can have their jobs back.
In March, the Belleville Township High School (District 201) gave pink slips to 26 teachers. The district now plans to rehire 19 of them for the 2010-2011 school year.
The teachers were laid off because the state was behind in payments to the district.
The superintendent also says that there’s a chance the remaining seven teachers could be brought back on board, depending on state funding.
The state still owes the district around $2.5 million.
