ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – Family members of Sheri Coleman are suing Joyce Meyer Ministries in the death of her and her two sons.
Attorneys claim the renowned Christian organization should have known Chris Coleman, who provided security for Meyer, was a desperate man planning to murder his family and run away with his mistress.
Joyce Meyer was deposed Monday afternoon downtown at the Midwest Litigation Center. Meyer’s son, Danny, was also in attendance along with attorneys on both sides.
The wrongful death lawsuit was filed last year by Sheri Coleman’s mother. She says threatening letters by Christopher Coleman to his wife were written on a work computer and should have been caught by Joyce Meyer Ministries. According to the family, those letters could have given Sheri enough warning to protect herself.
News 4 attempted to talk to Joyce Meyer as she left the deposition on Monday, but it was clear she did not want to talk.
Attorneys from both sides also said they had no comment on the case.
Chris Coleman was convicted by a jury in May, 2011 on three counts of first-degree murder.
