WENTZVILLE, Mo. (KMOV) – Nearly 2,000 new jobs are coming to the GM plant in Wentzville, and GM will pump about $380 million into the plant.
Union officials overwhelmingly approved the GM contract on Monday, and the new investment means a second shift will pick up the responsibility for the production of a new midsize pickup truck. The jobs added will total 1,850.
Wentzville beat out Shreveport, Louisiana for the jobs. That plant will close.
Even though Missouri won the new jobs, it came with a cost. At the end of this new contract, workers will have gone without raises and cost-of-living allowances for nine years straight.
