(KMOV) – The ISO rating for the St. Louis City Fire District is higher than it should be which is forcing resident’s homeowners insurance to rise.
The city received a two instead of a one meaning higher rates for city residents. The rating is given based on things like water supply and how quickly the department responds to emergencies.
“There are some issues with how calls are received, in other words, how we monitor circuits. They’re working on that but that’s going to be a while until we’re able to combine dispatch centers,” Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson said of his disappointment in the rating.
The chief also said some of the equipment is more than ten years only, adding to the higher rating.
