BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- A southwestern Illinois state's attorney has become a member of a national prosecutors group's governing board.
St. Clair County State's Attorney Brendan Kelly tells the Belleville News-Democrat (http://bit.ly/188FjJ5) it's a privilege to be part of the National District Attorney's Association panel. He says it will give him a broader perspective on being a prosecuting attorney.
The association's members meet regularly with the Justice Department, Congress and other national groups to influence policies and programs affecting prosecutors and other law enforcers.
Kelly already serves as the Illinois State's Attorney's Association's third vice president. He also represents the Fifth Appellate District in the Illinois Appellate Prosecutor's Board of Governors.
