LEBANON, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- A Metro-East man was killed when his motorcycle hit a truck Saturday evening.

The Madison County Coroner said Andrew Warner, 23, of Troy, Illinois was traveling northbound on Madison Avenue when he rear-ended a 2004 Dodge pickup truck. Officials say the truck had slowed down to make a left turn on Acorn Street before the accident.

Warner was intended to be airlifted to St. Louis but his condition worsened and the helicopter was diverted to Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois. He was pronounced dead at 6:20 p.m. He died as the result of multiple systems trauma.

Officials are not certain whether Warner was wearing a helmet when the crash happened. They suspect the helmet may not have been secure on his head and may have come off during the crash.

Routine toxicology test are being performed. The accident is still under investigation by the Lebanon Police Department.
