(KMOV.com) -- The Illinois Department of Transportation announced several road closures on Saturday, as rising water levels threaten some area roadways.

IDOT officials said IL 96 in Mozier will be closed, with a detour along IL 100 and IL 106.  In addition, US 50 at Silver Creek near Lebanon remains closed.

By Sunday, river forecasts indicate additional closures will be required. The roadways likely to be impacted within that period include: IL 100 throughout Grafton, IL 3 in Grafton, the Brussels Ferry, the IL 3 bypass near Chester, and Kaskaskia Street in Chester.

IDOT will continue monitoring state roadways in Calhoun, Greene, Jersey, Madison, and Randolph counties throughout the weekend.  Flooding has closed state highways and ferries along the Illinois and Mississippi rivers.

Traffic control devices, signs and message boards have been set up to guide motorists safely around major closures.

Travelers are advised to consider alternate routes or allow additional time to travel flood-prone areas.
