(KMOV.com) -- Flames morning engulfed the same north St. Louis home on Thursday where a shooting occurred the day before.

Fire crews responded to the 5000 block of Vernon near Kingshighway around 1:30 a.m. and found heavy flames shooting from the second floor of a home. The flames then moved to both neighboring homes.

About 50 firefighters were on scene as the second floor of the first home partially collapsed. The two next-door homes were then evacuated. Crews managed to extinguish the blaze by about 2:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

A man whose wife owns the initial home that caught fire told News 4 someone fired shots into the home and vandalized it with graffiti on Wednesday. He said his step-son lives there with his wife and kids.

Fire officials confirmed they are aware of Wednesday's incident and are working to determine if there was a connection to the fire.
