ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – Police have charged a man who allegedly broke into a home while a police officer’s wife was sleeping in south St. Louis early Thursday.

Antonio Mann, 29, was charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree property damage.

The victim told authorities she was sleeping at her home in the 3700 block of Juniata around 12:40 a.m. when she awoke to the sound of glass breaking on the first floor.

Police said the woman, who’s a St. Louis police officer’s wife, went downstairs and saw Mann crawling through her first window.

According to authorities, she grabbed a gun and told Mann to get out of the house.

Mann then fled the scene.

Officials said the officer’s wife called police and gave a solid description Mann, who was eventually caught about a mile away in the 3400 block of Louisiana.

He is being held in custody on a $25,000 cash-only bond.
