HIGHLAND, Ill. (KMOV) -- The Hope for Heroes program is asking for assistance from area residents and support groups to place 2,200 American Flags around Highland, Illinois on Easter Sunday.

They are hoping the two-thousand flags will help pay tribute to Cpl. Aaron Ripperda, the local U.S. Marine who was killed in a training accident March 18.

Those interested in helping are asked to meet at 4 p.m. at the Highland VFW located at 1900 VFW Rd. Also, those who have pickup trucks are also encouraged to assist with honoring Aaron Ripperda.

Help will also be needed Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 4 p.m. to take down the flags.
