St. Louis (KMOV) - Heavy rain is being blamed for a mudlslide in Alton, Illinois.

The mudslide happened at Piasa Park, just north of downtown Alton along the Great River Rd.

No injuries occured because it happened overnight.

The mud crashed down at the entrance of the cave, falling about 150 feet up at the top of the bluff.

At this point, the damage is minimal, but there is concern about the amount of saturation in the mud at the top of the bluff.

Officials in Alton believe the heavy rains of October and this week finally took a toll. At the top of the bluff, officials say there is a road, power lines, and a house, but they are not threatened by the mud.
