CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (KMOV) – Hazmat crews were called to a Chesterfield water plant for a chemical leak overnight.
According to police, firefighters assisted the hazmat crews at the Missouri American Water Plant for a report of a chlorine leak at 11 p.m.
Systems in place in the building contained the leak moments later.
Hazmat crews were called as a precaution, verifying the leak had been contained.
Officials with Missouri American Water say it was never a threat to the public as it never left the building.
Crews shut down the roadway at Hog Hollow and Olice as they worked to contain the leak.
No injuries were reported.
Authorities are working to determine what caused the leak.
