HAZELWOOD, Mo. (KMOV) -- Three out of four boys accused of sexually assaulting a 7th grade girl at Hazelwood West Middle School could soon face charges.
The Hazelwood Police Department said that four male students, ages 12, 13, 13 and 14, were involved in the incident.
The incident reportedly happened Monday when the boys tried to assault her in a boys bathroom.
The girl's parents said that their daughter was taken into a boys bathroom. Two boys tried to pull down her pants and assault her. Another boy locked the bathroom door and waited outside, while a fourth boy waited in the hallway to act as a lookout.
According to the girl's parents, the girl got away and went to the principal's office for help. The girl told her parents that she gave school officials information and was told to return to class. The girl called her parents from her cell phone. Her parents drove to the school immediately.
School officials said they were trying to sort through the information before calling parents. A district spokeswoman said the school sent the student back to class to pick up her belongings.
The investigation led to three of the four juvenile subjects being interviewed and referred to the St. Louis County Family Court seeking charges of Attempt Forcible Rape, Sexual Assault 2 and Injurious Behavior. Investigation continues on the 4th juvenile.
The district says the boys are suspended while police investigate.
