CREVE COEUR, Mo. -- A new $3.5 million headquarters and training facility for Support Dogs Inc. is being built in St. Louis County.

The nonprofit, which provides service dogs for people with a variety of needs, broke ground Thursday. The 23,000-square-foot facility is expected to open next summer in the Creve Coeur area of St. Louis County.

The project is funded in part by a $1 million donation from the Pat Stokes family and $500,000 from Nestle Purina PetCare Co. Stokes is a former chairman of CEO for Anheuser-Busch who has been involved with Support Dogs Inc. for 20 years.
