Granite City, Illinois (KMOV.com) – A tip from a witness lands a Granite City man in jail on burglary charges.
Madison County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 3100 block of West Chain of Rocks Road just before 3 a.m. on Saturday morning after a witness reported a burglary in progress.
When authorities arrived at the scene they spotted and arrested Michael Piper, 30. Piper lives in the 2100 block of Benton Street in Granite City.
Piper was taken to the Madison County Jail and charged with attempted burglary. Bond was set at $50,000.
