MEXICO, Mo. (AP) -- A goat that wandered the northeast Missouri town of Mexico continues to be a popular figure even after its capture, so much so that an effort is under way to make it Mexico's official mascot. KXEO radio reports that businesswoman Nikki Leach has begun a petition drive to have Mexico officially adopt the goat as its mascot. She says it makes sense because Mexico is an agriculture-based community with thriving F-H and FFA chapters. Leach has spoken with city and Chamber of Commerce officials. The goat was spotted numerous times in Mexico between Aug. 21 and its capture earlier this week. A Facebook fan page for the itinerant animal includes more than 8,000 followers. ------ Information from: KXEO-AM, http://info.kxeo.com (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press.
