(KMOV) – General Motors announced that more laid off workers will be rehired at the Wentzville manufacturing plant.
The facility is the only place where GM vans are made, and GM officials say orders for the cargo vans are up.
In the past year, the plant has brought back some 300 workers, bringing the total workforce there to more than 1,500.
Higher demand for work vans is usually a good sign that the economy may be rebounding.
A GM spokesman says that if demand for the work vans continues, then a second shift at the plant may be added.
