(KMOV) -- The GM plant in Wentzville, MO might be in line for a possible expansion, which could mean more jobs.
The possible expansion could bring a couple thousand jobs to the St. Louis Area over the next few years.
GM filed an application for tax incentives with the City of Wentzville, which indicates an early step along the way to expanding.
The plant could expanded by nearly 20% or by 500 thousand sq. ft.
A couple years ago the plant cut jobs which devastated hundreds of workers.
The possible expansion of the plant could also mean job openings for thousands of workers who lost their jobs when the Fenton Chrysler plant closed.
