(KMOV) – A former St. Louis County police officer is accused of stealing more than $1,000 after putting in fraudulent overtime claims late last year.
Michael Wood, 39, was charged Wednesday with felony stealing over $500.
According to police, Wood was arrested on Dec. 5 after an internal investigation revealed he had submitted 35.5 hours of fake overtime claims between Feb. 17, 2012 and Sept. 14, 2012.
The fraudulent claims resulted in an overpayment of $1,191.02.
Wood, who was a 10-year-veteran of the St. Louis County Police Department, was serving as an officer in the North County Precinct upon his resignation on Nov. 8.
His bond was set at $5,000.
