(KMOV) – Federal prosecutors announced on Thursday that former Lincoln County detective Scott Edwards had improper sexual contact with at least five women between early 2009 and late 2010.

Investigators say they want to know if there are more victims.

The women were under his supervision at the time while participating in the county’s drug court. His job was to keep tabs on them and make sure that they followed curfew. But court records say that Edwards, 49, sexually abused two of the victims and engaged in sex acts with three more.

Edwards was in a position to decide whether the women could finish the program and clear their records or go back to jail.

The U.S. Attorneys’ office says this case came to light after one of the victim’s families stepped forward. The prosecutor is not aware of any more victims, but anyone with information can contact the FBI.

The U.S. Attorneys’ office says Edwards is currently out of state and is expected to surrender this week.
