Florissant bar holds benefit for wounded officer

Florissant, MO (KMOV.com) -- A local business is helping out the family of a Florissant officer who was shot in the line of duty on Memorial Day.

Joe's Pub in Florissant will be holding a benefit today from 2 p.m to 10 p.m for Officer Mike Vernon. Joe's Pub is located at 490 St. Francois. The benefit will included live music and reaffles.

Officer Vernon was shot three times after responding to a burglary. Vernon's family says he suffered a spinal cord injury and will most likely be paralyzed for life.
