(KMOV)-- The first phase of Ballpark Village appears to be near getting off the ground.
The first phase of the project includes 225,000 square feet of office space and 100,000 square feet of retail space. Tenants haven't been named yet.
For several years, St. Louisans have been waiting to see if the project will be built.
It is a scaled down version, but maybe that's what this development needed in order to become reality.
The first phase would involve a 14 story office building, with retails shops on the 1st floor. The office building would have two decks built off of it that would hold bleachers overlooking the stadium.
Another building would be home to a restaurant called "Cardinal Nation." It marks a $150 million investment and if it all goes well, it could be under construction by next summer.
Now they must again secure tax increment financing and secure the bonds to begin construction.
