(KMOV) – Firefighters were battling a blaze that swept through a three-story building in north St. Louis Friday morning.
The fire broke out in the 4400 block of N. 20th at Newhouse around 6:15 a.m.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and found flames shooting from the first and second floors. The flames then spread to the third floor and an evacuation order was given.
Crews on multiple ladders were trying to get the fire out from above to help firefighters on the ground.
Firefighters appeared to have doused the flames by about 7:30 a.m., though smoke could still be seen on Interstate 70.
Officials say the building was vacant. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
