(KMOV.com) -- Firefighters worked to extinguish a fire that gutted an East St. Louis, Illinois apartment building on Friday morning.
The fire broke out in a vacant apartment complex in the 700 block of North 51st Street. Fire officials said the building will be a total loss after fire swept through it, destroying everything inside. Most of the building has collapsed.
Fire crews were on the scene most of the morning fighting the fire and extinguishing hot spots. This is the second fire in less than a week at the location. No injuries were reported.
The building sits across the street from the East St. Louis High School sports fields.
