(KMOV) – Fire crews worked to contain a first-alarm brush fire involving a vehicle in Wildwood Thursday afternoon.

Monarch Fire Department crews were called to the scene at 1049 Wild Horse Creek Road just west of Bablar State Park where a vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.

Authorities say nearly an acre of brush also caught fire around the vehicle. It is still unknown how the fire sparked.

St. Louis County Police took reports of gun fire but they believe the noise heard was due to an explosion within the vehicle’s engine.

Authorities say foul play was not suspected
