FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOV.com) – After delaying the first day of school for more than a week, students in the Ferguson-Florissant School District will be starting the 2014-2015 school year on Monday.

The school year was supposed to begin on August 18, but was delayed because of rioting and looting in the area.

During the delay, teachers in the district underwent training aimed at guiding staff members to assist students through the turmoil they have seen in the past few weeks.

The Ferguson Library offered free tutoring to students, while the school district offered free sack lunches during the delay.
