(KMOV) – Ferguson-Florissant Superintendant Dr. Art McCoy has been placed on administrative leave, the district announced in a letter released Thursday.
According to officials, the Ferguson-Florissant Board of Education made the decision Wednesday night based on differences in focus and philosophy. Officials said there was no indication of wrongdoing.
"As this is a personnel matter, we cannot disclose further details. However, the board feels that it is in the best interest of the district to address this situation by placing the superintendent on paid administrative leave as we work through the areas of concern," said School Board President Paul Morris.
McCoy, who has been superintendent since July, 2011, is still being paid during his leave. No timeframe was set on the length of the leave.
District Chief Accountability Officer Larry Larrew will serve as superintendent in the meantime.
