Suspect sought after fleeing fatal wreck in Metro-East

(KMOV.com) – Police are searching for a suspect who fled the scene of a fatal wreck in the Metro-East Monday morning.

According to police, there was some sort of disturbance at a home in the 8500 block of Collinsville Rd. near Collinsville around 4 a.m.

Police said three vehicles then began chasing each other to the parking lot of the Rural King on Collinsville Rd.

Authorities said that’s when a scuffle broke out between members of the groups and a black Denali SUV began chasing a Buick Sedan in excess of 100 mph.

The pursuit made its way into the 4700 block of Collinsville Rd. in Fairmont City and the vehicles lost control and rolled over.

An 18-year-old woman was ejected from the sedan and got pinned underneath the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her name was being withheld pending notification of her family.

The driver of the SUV, identified as 28-year-old Donald Friese, fled the scene on foot and is currently being sought by authorities.
