ALORTON (KMOV.com) – The family of a woman killed by a hit and run driver is pleading for the public’s help.

Alorton police say they found the body of Katherine Knight along Illinois Route 15 just after 5 a.m. Sunday. Police say the 56-year-old woman was apparently trying to cross the street near the intersection of Route 15 and Pocket Road when she was hit. Her sister is making a plea to the public.

"Just let us know something, if anyone at the gas station out there by the Budget Motel knows anything, please, I heard she was leaving from over there, let us know what happened," said Bernadine Fant.

The Alorton Police Department has informed News 4 it is investigating several leads in the case.
