(KMOV) -- A six-year-old boy died early Wednesday morning after an aggressive fire overwhelmed his family’s mobile home in Pierron, Illinois.

Two other boys, ages 13 and 9, and their mother were also inside the home during the blaze, and are said to be in critical condition at St. John's Mercy in St. Louis.

Six-year-old Braedyn Schmitt died at the scene.

The 13-year-old boy is said to be in a drug-induced coma as a result of third-degree burns on his legs and second-degree burns on his arms.

The mother is being treated in the ICU for smoke inhalation.

The extent of the 9-year-old boy’s injuries is unknown, but he is expected to survive.

It was reported that the family was asleep at the time of the fire, which broke out around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.

Firefighters pulled the three children from the flames, while a neighbor pulled the mother out of the home. A relative of the family told News 4 that the father was at work during the incident.

According to authorities, the mother and one child were immediately rushed by helicopter to the hospital after being rescued. The other two children were taken to a medical center in Highland, Illinois, where one of the boys was later transferred to a hospital in St. Louis.

No further information has been released at this time.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
