CAHOKIA, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- Police have arrested and charged a 43-year-old Fairview Heights man for the stabbing death of Cahokia woman.
Michael J. Armstrong has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Marguerita Harmon, 44. According to reports, Armstrong and Harmon were in a relationship.
Police on Saturday responded to a 911 call of an unresponsive female in the 1900 block of Camp Jackson Road around 6:15 a.m.
Responding officers found Harmon in the driveway of a home with multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspected murder weapon was also found nearby and Armstrong was at Harmon’s home when police arrived.
Later that day, Cahokia police confirmed they had a “person of interest” in custody. Police did not say if that person was Michael Armstrong.
Investigators said the reason for the attack is unclear.
Online court records don’t show whether Armstrong has an attorney, and he doesn’t have a listed home telephone number.
He remains in jail on a $1 million bond.
