ST. LOUIS – Officials on Wednesday announced the location for the next Fair St. Louis, which won’t be on the grounds of the Gateway Arch in 2014 because a $380 million renovation of the area will be in full swing next July.
The Veiled Prophets Organization today announced that the 137th Veiled Prophet Parade will be marching through Forest Park in 2014.
“We are thrilled to bring our parade to Forest Park,” said Kenneth J. Mallin, the 2014 Grand Marshal of the V.P. Parade. “The park venue will allow us to showcase in new and different ways the history of the V.P. Parade, the artistry of our 18 hand-built floats, the excitement of over 750 costumed performers, and the community spirit of over 1,000 volunteers.”
St. Louis parks director Gary Bess says Art Hill would be the central point for the fair.
The celebration of the V.P. Parade in Forest Park will kick-off the evening before on July 3 with the 2nd Annual Parade Town Party. Parade Town was newly unveiled last year and drew thousands from the Saint Louis region to celebrate the beginning of America’s Biggest Birthday Party that starts the next morning with the V.P. Parade and continues with the celebration of Fair Saint Louis.
