ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A new program from the Federal Emergency Management Agency seeks to ensure that Missouri's dams have emergency plans. KWMU Radio in St. Louis reports that only 34 of Missouri's 450 "high-hazard potential" dams have action plans for notifying emergency responders in an organized manner. A contractor working with FEMA says many dams around the state are old, though he was not aware of any facing a need for critical repair. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press.
