(KMOV) – Two students were arrested after two guns were found in the parking lot of a Hazelwood school on Wednesday.
According to an incident report obtained from the Hazelwood School District, a safety officer received an anonymous report that something was going to take place on the student parking lot of Hazelwood Central High School on Wednesday.
As a result of the tip, two school resource officers and school administrator supervised dismissal of students at approximately 2:25 p.m.
The officers noticed two cars parked on the lot with students that did not attend the school and asked them to leave.
The cars left the lot but two of the students came back on campus and were seen getting into a gray Lexus.
When school administration and security approached the vehicle, two former Hazelwood students were in the back seat, with two Hazelwood Central High School students seated in front.
According to the report, a school official noticed the former students in the back of the vehicle try to hide something and called over an officer.
The school resource officers searched the vehicle and located two handgun under the driver’s seat.
Police are searching for the former juvenile students, who ran from the scene. The two current students stayed and were taken into custody for questioning, then later arrested.
Police say one of the students, an 18-year-old, now faces an unlawful use of a weapon charge.
School officials requested extra security to be present during arrival and dismissal of students.
