ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- News 4 has joined teams with Boeing's "Exploring" program, which teaches students about different types of engineering while giving them a chance to see the company's facilities up close.

The Exploring program, started more than 60 years ago, helps pull young people away from crime and toward careers.

Olubukola Davies said she developed a deep passion for airplanes and aerospace engineering as she traveled through the Exploring program at Boeing's St. Louis County headquarters in Berkely.

Davies was mentored during her three years as an Explorer by a woman who started working for Boeing 17 years ago.

Gwendolyn Doss, a senior software engineer, said helping guide Davies through the program was a rewarding experience.

"Pure joy," Doss said. "It's exciting to work with students. I love it, I love it."

After college, Davies said she hopes to find herself employed back where she started -- Boeing.
