(KMOV) -- The 2014 JDRF Dream Gala at the Hyatt Regency in downtown St. Louis raised big bucks to help find a cure for diabetes.

The annual event that annually draws hundreds raised more than $850,000 Saturday night.

News 4's Russell Kinsaul was back for his sixth year as emcee of the black-tie gala. The money raised will go toward research to find a cure for diabetes.

Eighty people a day are diagnosed with Type-1 diabetes. JDRF is the leading global organization funding research for Type-1 diabetes.
