(KMOV) -- Officials at Scott Air Force Base say non-essential personnel were told to go home after storms caused widespread flooding at the base on Thursday.
News 4 viewers sent in several photos showing how extensive the flooding was.
Some cars on base were nearly submerged in water, while roads around the property could barely be seen.
Security forces worked to control traffic flow at the base’s main exit.
The flooding also caused power outages at the base, but electricity was restored by about 4 p.m.
