COLLINSVILLE, Ill. – Three people are facing charges after police said they were called to a Collinsville home on a report of a violent home invasion that all turned out to be a hoax.

Officers of the Collinsville Police Department, the Illinois State Police, the Caseyville Police Department, the Maryville Police Department, and the Madison County Sheriff’s Department all responded to the home after a 911 call said a woman was being dragged against her will from her house by men dressed in all black and wearing masks.

Police said when they got to the home, they learned there was no home invasion and the whole incident was an elaborate hoax.

Two children who were home at the time were not injured.

All three suspects are out on bail.
